CURD TO COUNTER

A MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME BY CHEESE JOURNEYS

Calling all America-based cheese retail professionals! We’re inviting you to join us as we go CURD TO COUNTER as part of a new mentorship programme in collaboration with British cheesemakers, and supported by Neal's Yard Dairy, that connects cheese professionals with Britain’s finest makers.

The three-day programme will run ahead of our signature British Cheese Odyssey tour in October 2024 and is exclusively for cheese professionals.

Cheese Journeys will take a select group of cheese retail professionals from the US to meet and receive mentorship from Britain’s most renowned cheesemakers where, over the course of the programme, participating professionals will be hosted by cheesemakers at their respective dairy locations. 

This year, to launch the programme initiative, we’re proud to have partnered with the following British cheesemakers:

  • Tom Calver of Westcombe Dairy

  • Jamie Montgomery of Montgomery’s Cheese

  • Ben Ticehurst, Head Cheesemaker at Trethowan Brothers

  • Jonny and Dulcie Crickmore of Fen Farm Dairy

  • Joe Schneider of Stichelton Dairy 

  • Sara and Paul Appleby of Appleby's Dairy

Professionals will have the chance to expand their knowledge and expertise, and be fully immersed into the process of taking artisan cheese from curd to counter. Think VIP dairy visit, fully facilitated by the Cheese Journeys team, that educates on cheese theory, history, dairy herd, making and maturing through to sustainable agriculture.

If you’re a cheese retail professional based in the US, currently working in the industry and involved in selling British artisan cheese, and would be interested in participating in the CURD TO COUNTER mentorship programme - applications are now OPEN! 

This new initiative, supported by Neal’s Yard Dairy, includes time with the Neal's Yard Dairy leadership team as well as its esteemed mongers in London, and Cheese Journeys will cover the cost of participating professionals' transportation and accommodation to and while staying with cheesemakers, where their host will cover food and drink. 

After the programme, these selected cheese professionals will embark on the signature eight-day British Cheese Odyssey across London, Somerset and Bath with fellow Cheese Journeys travellers. The full UK tour ticket cost for professionals chosen to take part will be inclusive of the CURD TO COUNTER mentorship programme -  so this is a unique opportunity to up-skill through first-hand mentorship, build expertise on the art and science of cheesemaking and delight in endless culinary experiences.

COSTS: Double occupancy tickets are $5,700 per person, single occupancy tickets are $6,400 per person - and this price includes both the three-day mentorship programme and eight-day tour of Britain (airfare not included).
